Well, that sounds like a bug to me, but as you say, your code is so old no one can help you at this point if it is. I have no suggestions I can offer. Maybe someone else does. James Shanks Level 3 Support for Tivoli NetView for UNIX and Windows Tivoli Software / IBM Software Group
James, I am receiving both Node Down and Router Down traps for just 2 of my routers, but not at the same time. In other words sometimes it is Node Down and other times it is Router Down. The " ovobjprint -s" command was TRUE for isRouter and the other came back with "object routername not found". I know that both the OS and NetView are old and probably not supported...NetView 6.02 running on AIX 4.3.3. That's why there are different traps. Are you getting both Router Down and Node Down for the same devices or different ones? If different, check the object properties with ovobjprint -s <selection_name> for the affected devices. When isRouter = TRUE you should get Router Down for that device, otherwise it is Node Down. What level of code and what operating system? There are also "Router Up" & "Router Down" traps in the log. There are very few of the "Node" traps for routers, but there are some. What is the difference between these types of traps?
