This is a huge area and you cannot make changes to it without doing some research. I recommend that you start by reading the TEC Event Adapters Guide. The NetView for Windows adapter is built on that model. It works almost the same as the OpenView adapter written by TEC, and some of the code is a direct port of that. The only real difference is that NetView for Windows has smartset filtering for the events that are sent, if you choose to configure it. You control what events get sent to TEC by the \usr\ov\conf\tecad_nv6k.conf file. You can edit this manually to configure it or use the tecconfig.bat java configurator. It allows you to select events which are defined to the tecad_nv6k.cds file. If you need new events added that aren't in the CDS, then you will have to define those by editing the file. You also have to configure the tecad_nv6k_oid file if the Event Object Identifier ( the OID or enterprise id) of the event you want is not already present. To use smartset filtering you configure tecSmartsetFilter.conf. Everything but the conf file must be edited by hand. To get a log or a trace of what the adapter is doing you configure the tecad_nv6k.err file, and replace the /dev/null destination for each class of event you want logged. It's possible to trace everything but then the resulting log becomes unreadable. If you want to see what events are going to TEC, configure the TECIO low-level and verbose options. There are also plenty of postings about this in the nv-l archives,. There are searchable archives at http://lists.skills-1st.co.uk/mharc/html/nv-l/ maintained by one of the users. Our setup is on Windows. Is there any way to control events sent to TEC.
-----Original Message-----
When the servers are restarted Netview is receiving traps from the switch that “interface down”. How ever I could not see this on TEC. How I can find out that what are the events Netview is forwarding to TEC. Where I have to configure on Netview that particular events to be sent to TEC. Thanks.
