I hope you are at least at Fixpack2 for 7.1.3, though FixPack3 is preferred. That level has enhanced diagnostics for just this kind of problem. To get to the bottom of this, use serversetup to make trapd run with the -x option (hex dump all packets). Then toggle the trapd.trace on at the command line with "trapd -T". You can toggle it off again the same way when you are done. The trace will capture the incoming packets in hex and hopefully indicate what trapd doesn't like about them. That may be enough for you to decide whether the problem is with the sender or not. If not , when you have a trapd.trace which captures the offending traps, and a matching trapd.log, please call IBM Support and open a problem. Unless you propose to get a book on SNMP and BER encoding, you'll need someone to decode the hex for you and see what it means. NV 7.1.3 / AIX 5.1 Would I see following in nvevents? Any more info on following would be appreciated.
