James,
You have read my mind.. That's exactly what i thought after looking FP's readme file. Many Many thanks for that brief explanation. It's crystal clear now!

All FixPacks are cumulative.  FixPack2 contains everything in FixPack1 plus new stuff.  FixPack3 contains everything in FixPack2, and thus also FixPack1.
I'm not sure why you came to the conclusion you did.  But all the fixes listed in the APARs section, as well as all the new features discussed, in the Release Notes for 7.1.3 FP03 are in there.  So you need only install FP03 to be at the latest level.  It has always been so.

Did you come to the conclusion you did by reading the part about patches, where it says no patches are superseded?  That's because in official Tivoli lingo, NetView produces no patches.  We produce test fixes and fix packs.   In Tivoli terms, a patch is test  (or temporary)  fix, which has ! been (1) built for all supported platforms and (2) gone through a complete verification cycle.  NetView does not have the resources available to independently regression test our test fixes,   though some of the larger Tivoli products do.  So NetView produces no patches, properly speaking.  Our test fixes remain just that, test fixes, until they are rolled up into a fix pack (or FixPack) and tested together.  A FixPack is a collection of fixes all applied to the base product and then tested together.  We do produce those, and they supersede one another.

James,
Thanks for the info.. I have just another question. Do i need to install Fix Pack two as well since Fix Pack Three does not superseed any Fix packs. But Fix Pack Two super seeds Fix Pack One.
Thanks again,
Larry

You should obtain the latest FixPack for 7.1.3, which is FixPack3, and apply it.  There is nothing else you can do, since the condition is internal.

There are several possible sources for the problem, and all the known ones were fixed between FixPack1 and FixPack3.

[nv-l] netmon exits with signal 6

Hi all,
we have Netview 7.1.3 on AIX with no patches. Since two weeks netmon dies very often with signal 6. Rest of the daemons will be running fine. Anybody has any clues about this.
many thanks,
Larry
