What about oid_to_sym?  \usr\ov\conf\c\oid_to_sym  also plays a roles here.  You'll find it mentioned in the User's Guide.
The oid files are only used once, at discovery time.  If you want to change them, then you have to delete and rediscover, as you said you tried once already.

But I'm really curious about this OID:  1.3.6.1.4.1.2.3.1 which is said to belong to  an Oce Digital copier, whatever that is.
The OID .1.3.6.1.4.1.2  is " iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.ibm."   Check the MIB browser and you'll see.
After all, NetView itself is 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.6.3.  According to some internal doc I have, 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.3.1 defines either the AIX snmp agent, or in an older implementation, now defunct, the IBM systemViewOs2Agent.

If this Oce stuff has a MIB with that OID, then they'll show up under ibm when you load it.

[nv-l] oid_to_type

Folks,

I have some bad oids in the badoid.log file and have
been attempting to clean them up but not having
success.

Windows 2000 - NV 7.1.4 FP1

I have the following entry in badoids.log
<hostname>:<IP>:1.3.6.1.4.1.2.3.1:<unknown>:Oce
Digital copier

I have done the following:

added to oid_to_type file:
"1.3.6.1.4.1.2.3.1:Oce:Oce digital copier"

added to ovw_fields file:
"Oce" to the list of vendors

added to snmp_fields file:
"Oce digital copier" to the SNMPAGENT field

I then deleted the node in question from Netview, ran
ovw_fields, closed the Netview GUI and restarted all
the netview daemons.

Have I left any steps out or made any glaring
mistakes?

Thanks,
