We had a situation where we were getting symbols set to white on our LAN
incorrectly and it was caused by a bug when there is a simple network without a
router. We had to switch off RFI. The problem was fixed in NV 7.1.2 under
IY23153.

Thanks francois for your answer.

What you told me is the way I understand RFI works.
But in my Pb I haven't found any node Down or interface down before the
network Unreachable and node and interface Unreachable arrived and that's
why i don't understand.
Is there any situtation were this can happen?

Cordialement.

Maxime,

There should be always one node or interface down first before RFI generate
the unreachable events. This first event is necessary for RFI to start
looking for an unreachable subnet. However once the subnets are unreachable
there won't be any more events generated for nodes on that subnet. The way
it works is that as long as none of the router interfaces on that subnet
respond, there will be no polling and no update for any other object in
that subnet. Only the router interfaces are polled.

So when a subnet goes unreachable, you should have one interface or node
down event and then the "subnet unreachable" event and nothing more.

Hello
AIX 51.
nv 7.1.3 FP2

I have a question about RFI

I have received unreachable traps from network node and interface in my
trapd.log file but I haven't received any node down or interface down which
has created all this unreachable node.

How is it possible to have unreachable node without a node down or
interface down before.

thanks.
