A knowledge item submitted by a Engineer in the TBSM Support team: Problem Desc: The original TBSM 2.1.1 adapter for Distributed Netview is incompatible with NetView 7.1.4. Users will experience problems with the NetView topology view on the NetView Web Console. A Java exception with "xerces" in the name will be generated. Solution: Open a PMR to IBM Tivoli TBSM support before upgrading to Netview 7.1.4 if using the TBSM adapter. A fix is being developed. If the migration to Netview 7.1.4 upgrade has occurred or will occur before the fix is available, implement the following workaround to circumvent the problem: 1. Delete the /usr/OV/jars/xerces.jar file 2. Change the line: CP=${NETVIEW_HOME}/jars:${NETVIEW_HOME}/jars/jlog.jar:${NETVIEW_HOME}/jars/adapter.jar:${NETVIEW_HOME}/jars/ASICommonListener.jar:${NETVIEW_HOME}/jars/MQeGateway.jar:${NETVIEW_HOME}/jars/xerces.jar:${NETVIEW_HOME}/jars/scaffold.jar in /usr/OV/bin/start_tbsmadapter.sh to: CP=${NETVIEW_HOME}/jars:${NETVIEW_HOME}/jars/jlog.jar:${NETVIEW_HOME}/jars/adapter.jar:${NETVIEW_HOME}/jars/ASICommonListener.jar:${NETVIEW_HOME}/jars/MQeGateway.jar:${NETVIEW_HOME}/jars/xerces-3.2.1.jar:${NETVIEW_HOME}/jars/scaffold.jar Add Dt: 2003-10-13 Add Time: 10:30:46 Add User Id: cn=sharon wheeler/ou=raleigh/o=ibm Product: IBM Tivoli Business Systems Manager Component Id: -- Attribute: All Unix Platforms; All Windows Platforms -2.1.1 As far as I know, the fix is now available from the TBSM team. Hope this helps, Gareth Holl Staff Software Engineer gholl@us.ibm.com ITIL Foundations Certified IBM Certified Deployment Professional --Tivoli Data Warehouse v1.2 --Tivoli Enterprise Console v3.8 Network Management IBM Software Group - Tivoli Software Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
Jane, If you look at the 7.1.4 Release Notes, it talks about contacting support to get an update for the adapter. I assume they mean TBSM support.....cause I have no clue.
