Sensitivity:
There is no recognized procedure for what you want to do, migrate from AIX
to Linux, so you are going to be a pioneer whether you want to be one or
not.

That said, when it comes to MIBs things may be easier than they are with
the main databases, because if moving the loaded MIB databases doesn't
work, then you can always ftp the actual MIB files and reload them on the
Linux box. That way will always work, because it's the same as getting new
MIBs from somewhere else.

But you have to remember that there are three MIB loaders in NetView.
There's xnmloadmib (the SNMPv1-only native loader), xnmloadmib2 (the
SNMPv1-SNMPv2 native loader) and the Java loader. The MIB databases for
the native loaders are in /usr/OV/conf. snmpmib is a text file and
snmpmib.bin is the binary file for xnmloadmib; snmpv2mib and snmpv2mib.bin
are for xnmloadmib2. You can try just replacing those files on the Linux
box (make backups first!) with those from AIX and then see whether they
work. Try the browser for each; then try loading another MIB. If they
don't work, then you can transfer the MIB files themselves and start from
scratch.

There is no command to load all MIBs but both of those loaders have command
line options to load MIBs without using the GUI so that you can write a
script to load whatever you want. You can see the options in the man pages
for those commands or in the usage notes you get when you issue "xnmloadmib
-?" or "xnmloadmib2 -?" They are quite similar.

The Java loader is different and I don't know many tricks with that. It
also has a command line interface you can learn about in "mibloader.sh -?".
It's supposed to accept a .def file which contains a list of MIBs to load.

Folks:

I need to migrate from Netview on AIX to Netview on Linux and I know I
can't just copy the database over. How do I move the loaded mibs? Just
copy of the text files and manually load them in netview? Or is there a
netview command to "load all mibs"?

Thanks
