Subject: RE: [nv-l] ? about netviewd process for Web Console
Short workaround. Start the NETVIEWD daemon automatically. As soon as
it is up start a RW session with the "netview -dconsole" command.
NETVIEWD will lurk in the background and take the session back when your
"dconsole" session dies.
The disadvantage of running NETVIEWD with a read-only map is that some
changes are not reflected to the web console; i.e. manage/unmanage
changes.

Subject: [nv-l] ? about netviewd process for Web Console
Hi,
I running NV 7.1.4 FP3 on RH Linux AS 2.1
I've recently started deploying Web consoles for a handful of people and
it works very well - except for a few issues. I typically have a RW
copy of the map open (the only map BTW). I need this access to
add/delete/unmanage nodes. Occasionally, my Xsession gets blown out and
when this happens people cannot access the web console. The fix for
this is to start netviewd (I believe). The problem I have with this is
- this process takes the RW control of the map and I am restricted to
RO. Is there a way to have netviewd run only with a RO map?
If not, does anyone have a better idea than me starting and stopping the
process (actually even this doesn't work for me I have to use NVsetup
and reconfig web server) every time I need access to RW map?
Thanks,
Glen
