You can have it simple or you can have it customized, but you can't have
both.
The additional characters are elements of the trap structure. If you look
at the rest of what is sent, it's pretty easy to tell what they are.
You can learn to ignore them, and continue use the built-in function, or
you can write your own, But there is no way to customize this function
externally. It would require an enhancement request to alter the code.

As an alternative, you can write your own Additional Action script. The
operator would select the event and then pull down Options -->Additional
Actions and select yours from the list. The man page on trapd.conf
explains how to write an additional action script and there are some
examples in /usr/OV/bin. Basically it seems that you'd want format the
variables, particularly $MSG, and pass your formatted message to your
favorite e-mail command, mail, mailx. or sendmail.

Hello List,

Netview 7.1.4 FP 4 , AIX 5.2 ML 06

I'm forwarding you an email that the operators send from an event in
Netview. As you can see, there are extra characters, no subject line,
and their notes. How do I customize this?

Event Window --> file --> send --> selected -- event information window
where you type the email address.

How do I?

1) add an entry in the subject line
2) remove extra characters/lines like this part:
N

0 0
169085302 6 58916867 6 10 1 3 6 1 4 1 2 6 3 1 0 3 1145452094
2006 3 19 13 8 14 0 0 0 1
public

Our goal is to have the operators email the notes that they enter on a
particular event. Any alternate method in accomplishing this?

Catalina
