I'll apologize upfront for this being negative.

Now I remember why I don't use Switch Analyzer.
I have 989 switches and a 6-way NetView
$30,000 for 6 processors on NetView.
989 switches x 24 ports each x $20 = $474,720
Many of my switches have 48 ports and some have hundreds of ports.
That's minimally $504,720.00, probably closer to $1,000,000.00.
I am not convinced of the R.O.I.
I use SNMP queries and monitor the Cisco syslog to watch my switches.
I logged this syslog message today and automatically paged the
appropriate department.
C6KPWR-SP-4-POWERDENIED WARNING dcncsrv6506q11 insufficient power,
module in slot 3 power denied.
I still have fond memories of Nways Manager.

"That's just my opinion, I could be wrong."
No sales calls please!

Hello,
According to the IBM Passport Advantage Express site, it looks like
$5000.00 US per processor and $20.00 per port (with 12 months
maintenance.
However, your pricing may vary depending on a number of factors, so it's
best to contact IBM for specific pricing.
The web page I was looking at is located at:

Does anybody know the aprox. cost of the Switch Analyzer product?
I looked at it about 2 years ago and I seem to remember it being related
to the number of processors in the box and the number of switch ports it
has to monitor.
