Is the oldest data in snmpColDump at the 1 minute granularity? If it is, then you should see that in the graph. It is not surprising that the data shown by xnmcollect is only recent. That's intended for testing your configuration. If the data is there, then I can only think it must be a misunderstanding of how the grapher works. To launch the grapher from the menu, you can select the node on the map and then select 'Tools...Graph Collected Data...For Selected Node'. You can scroll back in time with the left mouse button. This makes a vertical line marked with the date and time, and if you move the mouse to the left, it scrolls until the label changes to 'Data Start'. On the menu, View..Time Intervals There is a slide bar at the top showing the beginning and end of the time for which data is available with the current settings. The Display Width controls how much time is visible, without scrolling, on the x axis. The Resolution by Data setting controls the smoothing. To see all raw datapoints for the last 60 days in one view, set the Display width to 60 days and the Resolution to 'by data'. Press Apply. There is also a right-mouse button menu pick for 'show all' that will do the same thing for you. If this does NOT show you all of the data that you can see with snmpColDump, then you should call Support to help you figure out why. I hope this helps. Cordially, Leslie A. Hi Leslie, with an snmpColDump the values go back until the 14th august. When I make an xnmcollect and "Show Data" the interval is correctly on 1 Minute and the Values shown in this window go back around 30 minutes. The default setting in "Time Intervals" is "Resolution by Data"..... Do you have another idea? Cordially Martina ----- Original Message ----- From: Leslie Clark To: Tivoli NetView Discussions Sent: Thursday, September 07, 2006 1:26 PM Subject: Re: [NV-L] xnmcollect throws away values? Martina, it sounds a little bit like someone has configured the data to be rolled up and aged off. That is not a feature of the product. Someone would have to add it. Is that possible? To determine whether the problem is with the grapher or with the data, you might try looking directly at the data. If it is in flat files, you can use the snmpColDump command to display the files in /usr/OV/databases/snmpCollect. This same text view of the datapoints is available from the gui: Tools...Data Collection & Thresholding (or xnmcollect at the commandline) Select a variable that is being collected Verify that the frequency is as you expect. Click 'Show Data' Select an instance in the top frame of the dialog View the datapoints for each node with that interface instance, and the actual intervals (in the left-hand column) If the datapoints are there, collected on the proper interval, then you should be able to see them with xnmgraph. Hi Leslie, unfortunately this doesn't work. No matter if Resolution by data or Resolution User defined. The effect is the same that the statistic gets smoothed. I was looking in the serversetup, but also there I can't find options for the snmpCollect. Greetings Martina ----- Original Message ----- From: Leslie Clark To: Tivoli NetView Discussions Sent: Tuesday, September 05, 2006 3:08 PM Subject: Re: [NV-L] xnmcollect throws away values? The data is most likely still there, but the viewer is smoothing the line for you. If this is Unix or Linux, in the viewer, there are options on the menu to specify the time period to show, and how much data to show for that period. I think it is under View. There is one for including or excluding lines, and one for the data. You want the one for the data. To see all of the data for the last month, set the viewing period to 30 days, and the resolution to 'by data'. Cordially, Leslie A. Hi list, we collect a MIB for 4 Weeks. Now ist seems that NetView throws away values after a week and only keeps 10 percent of the collected values. So the tops of Aug/15 seem more plain every day, till only a line is left. Can I modify the config anywhere?
