In the current version of NetView SNMPv2 support is quite limited. 7.1.5 will offer full SNMPv2 support but 7.1.4 does not.

xnmcollect is tied to the SNMPv1-only loader, so you cannot use it to navigate through MIBs loaded by xnmloadmib2.

If your target MIB is SNMPv2 then you'll either have to find a v1 copy of it for xnmloadmib to load, or more likely, you will have to edit snmpCol.conf directly and create a collection entry for the collection you want. There are comments in the top of the file to assist you in doing that. What I would do if you want to try this is to create a collection for an SNMPv1 MIB variable that is as close to the SNMPv2 variable as it can be, so that your editing is minimal.

Having said that there are two caveats here. The first is that snmpCollect will only send and receive SNMPv1 pdus, so the remote agent you are querying must respond to an SNMPv1 query for that data. You can check this with xnmbrowser2 which actually sends an SNMPv1 query even for variables which originate in a v2 MIB. Also, the data you are requesting can only be of the same types as snmpCollect currently supports, counter, gauge, and integer.

Good luck,

[NV-L] xnmcollect and thresholds

Hello,
I would like to setup a trap for infoblox servers.
I loaded Infoblox MIBs using xnmloadmib2 and I can see them in xnmbrowser2,
but when I try to add thresholds in xnmcollect I cannot see infoblox OIDs
(under private/enterprises/)
Is there any way to overcome this problem or NetView doesn't support
setting up thresholds for MIB v2?

My platform:
AIX 5.2,
NetView 7.1.3

Best regards
