Maps? When you clear the databases listed in the option,
object/topology/*maps*, your maps will be destroyed. They cannot be
saved. The three databases are interdependent. Loss of just one means
the other two are worthless.
So if you have made manual cut-and-paste changes to your maps, they
will be gone too. If you have a location.conf, then the maps will be
rebuilt according to that, but that is all. Everything else on the map
will default, according oid_to_type and oid_to_sym, as the objects are
re-discovered.
SNMP configuration and trap configuration are not part of the
databases in /usr/OV/databases/openview and are not affected. The MIB
data bases are not affected. Those are all small, independent items in
/usr/OV/conf.

Ok, great..
How about the MAPS, SNMP configuration info, etc.
Thanx.

I'd do an ovobjprint to a file first so that you can be sure that you
find everything you expect to. And ovobjprint -S will give you the
total object count before you start.
You can easily accomplish the clear by using serversetup, "Maintain
--> Clear Databases". Choose "Clear object /topology/map databases,
save customizations" to preserve your smartset definitions else they
will be wiped out too.

[NV-L] Re-Discovery
Morning all-
I have a 7.1.3 environment, and I'm looking at performing a
re-discovery of all objects to make sure that all of the SNMP agents
are functional. What would be the best method to accomplish this? Are
there any gotchas I need to be aware of?
Thank you.
