libnvcollection is a standard part of /usr/OV/lib. It's a shared library containing the API's for using smartsets.

Do a
ps -ef | grep OV
and see if anything is still running, because it seems like something is. Kill it or stop it and that includes the ntl_reader which you can stop with
nettl -stop
And then if this is AIX, issue
slibclean
to cause it to drop the in-memory copies of the shared libraries.

Then run the backout script and try again.

I'm frankly mystified as to why any of this should be necessary because the install script does all of this for you. You are "root" aren't you? You have to be root or have root authority for these commands to work.

RE: [I] Re: [NV-L] Fixpack 5 install

Got this far. I commented out the netnmrc in the startup so no Netview processes. Any idea what libcollection is and why it is in use? I have never in to this before. Thanks.

Nope. Could you be out of space?

Try extracting everything yourself and then installing.

zcat 7.1.4-TIV-NVD-{OperatingSystem}-FP0005.tar.Z | tar -xvf -
./install

[NV-L] Fixpack 5 install

Running Netview 7.1.4 Fp04 on AIX 5.3
Trying to install Fix pack 05.
I run the:
zcat 7.1.4-TIV-NVD-{OperatingSystem}-FP0005.tar.Z | tar -xvf - install

./install
When I run the install script it:
Performing Prerequisite Checking
Performing File Extraction
Unable to extract files from ./7.1.4-TIV-AIX-FP0005.tar
Installation aborted - the system remains unchanged.

Has anyone experienced this?
