Then there is something wrong with your name resolution because if snmpcollect can resolve a hostname it will.

You must make certain that your names resolve both forward (hostname to IP Address) and backward (IP Address to hostname). Where most systems fail is on the reverse look-up. I couldn't see a 10.127.2.37 in you ovobjprint output for example.

[NV-L] IP Address in place of hostname in snmpcollect database

Hi,

We have Netview 7.1.4 with FP 05 on windows.

We have hosts file updated with all the router names we are managing.

We have configured data collection on few MIB OID's and MIB expressions and
we use Routers smartset for the collection.

We observed that few of the routers are showing IP Address instead of
Hostname in the snmpcollect database when we see the data from collect
windows.

I am using a reporting tool and not able to standardize on using hostname
for the configuration of this tool.

Can anyone advise what could be reason for this and what can be remedy for
this.

Attached the data saved file which shows IP Address for few of the nodes
(See attached file: collectedData.zip)

Ovobjprint -s command for few of the nodes updating IP address in the data
is also attached
(See attached file: ovobrint-s.zip)

Thank you in advance
Santosh K
