You’d need inbound (assuming your
Netview box is on the “outside” of the firewall) UDP 161 for snmp
queries, ICMP echo for pings, Telnet or SSH (if you want to administer devices
in that manner directly from Netview) and any other custom ports you might be
managing with servmon (link HTTP (80)) From the opposite direction, you’d
need UDP 162 for snmp traps, ICMP echo-reply (the other ½ of the ping) at a
minimum. Depending on where your DNS servers are, you might also need UDP/TCP
53.
Hope this helps,
Glen

Subject: [NV-L] What ports
What
firewall ports do you need open, for a netview scan - udp 161 for snmp and icmp
*whatever* for ping? What else, if any, do you need (udp 53 for dns?)?
Thanks
in advance
