We are in the same boat and experienced the same sticker shock. Precision/Omnibus is just too much for what we need it would be a very long time before we got any ROI on these tools.

We've owned NV since 1998 and have enjoyed paying 4 digit annual maintenance. Be prepared for sticker shock if you've owned NV for a few years. Our quote in November for the 'upgrade' to Precision/Omnibus was priced at roughly 400K for a solution that provided failover--still 300+K w/no failover. I don't recall how it's licensed; our NV currently has 16,500 objects. We're holding pat at 7.1.5 and exploring other options before spending that kind of $$.

Subject: [NV-L] Netview/Netcool upgrade license
Hello List!
What is the way of licensing Precision IP? Is it possible to upgrade it
from NetView or you have to buy the new product? Thanks in advance!
Best regards, Laszlo
