Hi, If you have network performance issues, and while you figure out where the problem lies, you can still configure an event rule that will buffers Router Down events for each of your routers until the next polling result and only issue a router down when 2 (or more) consecutive failures are detected. That's what I used to do to prevent unwanted Node Down events caused by network latencies. Then maybe if the router you are polling are far from your Netview server, you can use an MLM to poll these routers, which will give you better response time. Hope that helps, Denis
Hi, Actually i have modified the polling interval as Timeout--------------------------------Retry------------------------------Polling 5.0 10 5m 2.0 10 5m 10.0 5 2m These are the different combination of polling interval iam using. The RFI Mode i have set is RFI. I have set the RFI Ambiguous non-responding router interface in unmanaged subnet as : Unreachable The trap iam getting when i cant reach a router (Due to slow network), trapd.log.2007158184455:1181216893 3 Thu Jun 07 17:18:13 2007 10.108.1.2 N Network Down trapd.log.2007158184455:1181216893 3 Thu Jun 07 17:18:13 2007 10.108.1.2 N Interface Loopback99 down. trapd.log.2007158184455:1181216893 3 Thu Jun 07 17:18:13 2007 10.108.1.2 N Segment 10.108.1.2.Segment1 Down. trapd.log.2007158184455:1181216893 3 Thu Jun 07 17:18:13 2007 10.108.1.2 N Interface GigabitEthernet0/ down. trapd.log.2007158184455:1181216893 3 Thu Jun 07 17:18:13 2007 10.108.1.2 N Interface Vlan2 down. trapd.log.2007158184455:1181216893 3 Thu Jun 07 17:18:13 2007 10.108.1.2 N Interface Vlan2 down. trapd.log.2007158184455:1181216893 3 Thu Jun 07 17:18:13 2007 10.108.1.2 N Interface Vlan2 down. trapd.log.2007158184455:1181216893 3 Thu Jun 07 17:18:13 2007 10.108.1.2 N Interface Loopback0 down. trapd.log.2007158184455:1181216893 3 Thu Jun 07 17:18:13 2007 10.108.1.2 N Router Down. trapd.log.2007159082618:1181227423 3 Thu Jun 07 20:13:43 2007 10.108.1.2 N Interface GigabitEthernet0/ up. trapd.log.2007159082618:1181227423 3 Thu Jun 07 20:13:43 2007 10.108.1.2 N Interface Loopback0 up. trapd.log.2007159082618:1181227423 3 Thu Jun 07 20:13:43 2007 10.108.1.2 N Interface Vlan2 up. trapd.log.2007159082618:1181227423 3 Thu Jun 07 20:13:43 2007 10.108.1.2 N Interface Vlan2 up. trapd.log.2007159082618:1181227423 3 Thu Jun 07 20:13:43 2007 10.108.1.2 N Interface Vlan2 up. trapd.log.2007159082618:1181227423 3 Thu Jun 07 20:13:43 2007 10.108.1.2 N Network Up trapd.log.2007159082618:1181227423 3 Thu Jun 07 20:13:43 2007 10.108.1.2 N Interface Loopback99 up. trapd.log.2007159082618:1181227423 7 Thu Jun 07 20:13:43 2007 10.108.1.2 N Segment 10.108.1.2.Segment1 Up. trapd.log.2007159082618:1181227423 7 Thu Jun 07 20:13:43 2007 10.108.1.2 N Network 10.108.1.2 Marginal trapd.log.2007159082618:1181227423 7 Thu Jun 07 20:13:43 2007 10.108.1.2 N Network 10.108.1.2 Up. trapd.log.2007159082618:1181227423 3 Thu Jun 07 20:13:43 2007 10.108.1.2 N Router Up. trapd.log.2007159082618:1181268428 3 Fri Jun 08 07:37:08 2007 10.108.1.2 N Network Down trapd.log.2007159082618:1181268429 3 Fri Jun 08 07:37:09 2007 10.108.1.2 N Interface Loopback99 down. trapd.log.2007159082618:1181268429 3 Fri Jun 08 07:37:09 2007 10.108.1.2 N Segment 10.108.1.2.Segment1 Down. trapd.log.2007159082618:1181268429 3 Fri Jun 08 07:37:09 2007 10.108.1.2 N Interface GigabitEthernet0/ down. trapd.log.2007159082618:1181268429 3 Fri Jun 08 07:37:09 2007 10.108.1.2 N Interface Vlan2 down. trapd.log.2007159082618:1181268429 3 Fri Jun 08 07:37:09 2007 10.108.1.2 N Interface Vlan2 down. trapd.log.2007159082618:1181268429 3 Fri Jun 08 07:37:09 2007 10.108.1.2 N Interface Vlan2 down. trapd.log.2007159082618:1181268429 3 Fri Jun 08 07:37:09 2007 10.108.1.2 N Interface Loopback0 down. trapd.log.2007159082618:1181268429 3 Fri Jun 08 07:37:09 2007 10.108.1.2 N Router Down. Is it Node down events caused by network latencies? Give more details like trapd.log extract for example, and I'm sure you'll get an answer to your problem Denis
Hi, I am getting False Alarms in netview, i get this whenever the network is slow. I worked with all sort of polling interval. What i need to do. Please advice me on this. Thanks & Regards
