In fact, CNAT will install on AIX 5.3 but it is not officially supported there. It was never tested nor certified on that level of AIX, and while other customers have installed it, it has problems. The snmptrap command that CNAT uses for a heartbeat mechanism will not run on AIX 5.3. The workaround is to use the one from MLM on the MLM CD, and you can contact NetView Level 2 for assistance in extracting it. I have been told that CNAT runs fine on AIX 5.1 or 5.2, but I do not have personal knowledge of that. You would be well advised not to migrate it at all, but keep it in the environment in which it is running now.

The only reason CNAT has not been withdrawn is that IBM marketing cannot figure out how to withdraw a product which we are giving away for free with other products, TEC as well as NetView. In 7.1.5 we stopped shipping the CNAT CDs. TEC will do the same in their next release, or so I am told, and maybe then we announce an end-of-life. But in point of fact, what you have is the last release and it will not be enhanced to support AIX 5.3 or anything newer.

I sent the manuals directly. But they call fro AIX 4.3.3, so it is possible that it will not install.

Hello,

could anybody please provide me a instalation manual of CNAT , and maybe
advise me where i can get the latest version ?

We need to remove some old CNAT servers and install the application on new
AIX 5.3 virtual servers .
