By the log here I assume you mean the events window.
This is not standard NetView processing but the result of some customized
ruleset you have running in this window.
The name of the active ruleset is shown in the lower right of the window
margin.

Subject: Control Desk - Event log overwrites node-down with node-up
How can I retain the node down event in the log - it is currently
overwritten with a node up message when the node comes back up. I need to
know when the node went down.
