Jon:

I have played with monitoring paging space, disk space, and daemons through
the data collection, however, I have found that monitoring trough Korn
shell scripts to be most effective. While NetView provides many customized
features, all NetView users use the product differently. But from the
sounds of it, you are probably receiving one value for all nodes and the
second node value is just not being read correctly or you might want to
double check and make sure you have the data collection set up to monitor
all of the nodes you need; it could be that you have the data collection
set up to monitor only one node. Just a suggestion. Good luck.

Subject: MLM Collection / threshold monitoring

Hi everybody,

I have a little problem which I have not been able to find the answer to in
any
of the forums or in documentation. I was wondering if I'm missing
something:
I am trying to Monitor a groups of nodes for various threshold conditions
(usual stuff):
Filesystems being above a set %
Daemons running
Paging Space
etc.
I am using Netview5 on AIX 421 , with One MLM (v5.0.1) With SIA 2.3.1.0 +
PTF
on a project which currently involves about 16 AIX servers (eventually
about
300 servers will be monitored with a number of MLM's).
I have set all the boxes up and confirmed that community name , SIA, MLM
polling etc is all working OK. (tested using snmpwalk, MIB Browser etc.)
I have been monitoring filesystems on one box quite successfully. I
decided
to set up a collection and monitor that collection.
I receive no alerts even when I tripped the thresholds I set. I checked
on
the MLM in the "MLM Threshold and Collections table " and all seems well.
But when I check the "MLM Threshold Results Table" all the Nodes have the
same
Figures.
Forexample .... if I monitor the percentage of space free in filesystem
/var on
all the Nodes . . .
The value is 20% full for every node . . . . when I check each node they
all
have a variety of Values (but normally only one matches the value reported)
Is it possible that even though I am monitoring a number of servers . . .
only
one value is being reported ?
Originally I tried to configure this through APM on Netview, but I have
also
tried to directly configure the MLM and I still get the same results.
I have a similar environment using Netview4 and MLM 2 and all this works
fine.
Has anybody come across this before? or am I the lucky one !!!?
Cheers
