I have used the AIX version of NetView 5, but this is my first time working
with the NT version. I am setting up a laptop to be used for a demo of
NetView 5 for NT. The installation went smooth, but when I started the GUI,
no network was discovered. The nv.log file has the following entries:
07/01/98 14:03:31 [ovwdb] ovwdb got client tiv_demo 163.181.64.42
07/01/98 14:03:31 [ovwdb] ovwdb thread 324 initializing...
07/01/98 14:03:34 [ovstart] Done
07/01/98 14:03:36 [snmpcollect] Schedule service already running
07/01/98 14:03:42 [netmon] ERROR: endSnmpOperation: invalid interface
163.181.64.42, mask 0x00000000; NOT adding node 163.181.64.42 to topology.
07/01/98 14:03:53 [ovstart] Done
I looked through the documentation and readme files, but found no reference
to invalid interface. I am able to ping and snmpwalk the default router and
other nodes, and all node names resolve. All netview processes are running,
and I cleared the databases to see if this would help.
As an unusual side effect, since installing Netview, netstat -r gets an
error: The procedure entry point SnmpSvcGetEnterpriseOID could not be
located in the dynamic link library snmpapi.dll, and
\usr\ov\bin\rnetstat -r crashes every time I launch it. I think this may
have something to do with the netmon error.
Any ideas as to the failures?
