A quick and dirty method I use is to 'tar' the /usr/OV/databases subdirectories,
then go and delete all the files under /usr/OV/databases/openview. Restart the
netview daemons, (might have to use ovw -fields aswell) and the rediscovery is
off and running. This probably isn't the recommended method, but I've used it
without problems.

I'd like to be able to rediscover our network using a new seedfile,
basically starting from scratch. However, I would like to be able to go
back to my current situation if necessary. How do I backup and restore the
Netview databases necessary to do this. I'd like to do this on the hard
drive rather than tape if possible.

Thanks,
John M.
