The rule that is used to create a collection has a maximum length (it used
to be 2048 characters, though I don't know what it is now) and this limits
how you can create the collection. Folks usually run into this limit when
they try to create a collection which is just a list of hostnames. It is
far better and more efficient to create one using field values, like
isRouter = True.

Subject:  Collections Error

Greetings, I am resending this message in the hope that someone can
shed some light on the subject...

                             -- o --

We are currently using the ITSO depend process to create single point of
failure router/interface dependencies. We have been running Ok until we
got this error message when we run the make_colls portion of the script:

     Cannot create collection routers_with_dependent_nodes
     Error: Rule exceeds maximum allowed length

I know that this error has to do with collections limitations and would
like to know if anyone has come across this, and most importantly, how
we can get around this error condition.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
