My understanding is that in NetView for NT 5.0 if you want to exclude stuff
from being discovered, then you put it in the seed file with a "bang" (!)
in front of it, as in " !192.125.53.60" . In Version 5.1 there is a
"seedfile only option" so you can discover just what is included in the
seedfile.
There is a NetView for NT client and it should be on one of the CD's you
were shipped? Not there? You may have an old package or something. In
anycase, there is client code in Version 5.1 for certain and it is shipped
with the product.
If you want to see what is being collected by snmpCollect, look in
/usr/ov/conf/snmpcol.conf.

Subject: Discovering with seed files in NV5 for NT
Hi
I have a couple of questions concerning Net View for NT. First we are
having a problem discovering specific nodes through a seed file. What we
want as the end result is that the node and all the devices attached to the
node be discovered and mapped. When we do discovery on the network we get
back every node and their devices on the network. Is there a specific way
that we need to setup the polling and seed file to just discover the
devices
on a node?
Also is there a client interface for NV for NT? This would make managing
Net View much easier. If there is a client how do you set it up?
One last thing what MIBS are being pulled in the collect data command that
comes default set in NV? We suspended them until we new what information
they were pulling.
