When should I use database with NetView

Hello, I have been installing NetView but never use any database with it.
When actually, and uder what environment do I require
to use database. Does this depends on the network size only ??

Another question, If I am not mistaken I must install framework with
NetView 5 for UNIX (AIX)  and I can not have framework with NetView for NT
Am I right
