event node down and ovxbeep

My  customer have requested  to associated  a popup window  and a sound (but
just for few seconds)  to the NetView event   NODE_DOWN.    So when  a
NODE_DOWN  event is generated the operator  can hear  a sound for a while and
see in the GUI a popup  window  that says which  node has gone down.  The
ovxbeep  works fine expect that I cannot  customize the sound for few seconds.
I am wondering If somebody has implemented  this or something similar.
