I think I should have added to my last append that there is NOTHING you can
do to your NetView maps which affect whether your can login, as root or any
other id, on the box itself. That is someother problem that you will have
to address with AIX support. NetView has no hooks into the login process.

I don't know exactly what has been corrupted on your local map database to
give you this problem and I suggest you call Support if you want individual
attention. But this doesn't mean a re-install of the AIX or NetView. At
most it means you will have to use SMIT/Framework to go to the Maintain
menu and restart automatic map generation so that we build new objects for
what is in your database. Any customization you have done will be lost
and have to be re-done. And once you have the map looking the way you
want, take a backup. And then take another every week if you are going to
play games with undocumented command options.
That's the only way to guard against these problems. This is discussed in
the NetView Diagnosis manual by the way.
