I've noticed this too. Before V5, when you had no choice but to stop/start
netmon, it
was a big hit while netmon started up, but that forced the full discovery
config poll for
nodes listed explicitly in the seedfile.
It seems as it netmon -y does not do that sort of config poll, even for new
discoveries.
I have been resorting to adjusting the config poll period down from 1 day
to a few hours
when I am doing lots of discovery. Then if I get impatient, I just
stop/start netmon.
The best way to use neton -y, I think, is when I need to make a change to
ranges or
exclusions, but not necessarily to force discovery of a list of nodes.
Cordially,

In NV4.1 I have used the "loadhosts" command.
Specifically: loadhosts -p -m [Subnet Mask of nodes] <<EOF
Then enter: [IP Address] [ Fully Qualified DNS name] {return}
Type EOF when you are done adding nodes.
Hope this helps!

Subject: Forcing a config poll
Is there a way to force NetView to poll for configuration changes? I've
added
about 50 new entries into my seed file for servers in our network that had
not
been discovered by NetView because they were outside of the defined address
ranges. I issued the netmon -y command, to re-read the seed file,
yesterday
afternoon. As of this note NetView has discovered those new servers, but
has
not polled them yet for configuration information. Its been almost 24
hours,
shouldn't NetView have polled them by now?
