Sorry, Joe, but nvtecia is not something I have worked on. But I don't
know any way to stop the internal adapter without stopping the nvserverd
daemon. As for what events are sent or should be sent, well, this is not a
piece of code I am familiar with. If you want someone to look into it,
then please call Support.

James,

It appears there is a TEC event generated when one issues the "nvtecia
-reload", indicating that "nvserverd is ending". This is the same event
generated when one issues the "nvtecia -stop" command, which actually did
stop the nvserverd daemon on the NetView server in addition to the process
of forwarding events to TEC. I have a few questions:

(1) Should the "nvtecia -stop" command also stop the nvserverd daemon on
the NV server?

(2) Should the "nvtecia -stop" and "nvtecia -reload" command generate the
same TEC message - "nvserverd is ending", status=OPEN?

(3) Why doesn't the "nvtecia -reload" command generate a TEC event with a
message such as "NetView forwarding to TEC is UP", status=CLOSED, closing
the event generated in (2) above?

Thanks,

I have looked at the code for nvtecia (and so can you -- it's a script) and
I don't find a -start option, though the -reload would accomplish what you
want if the forwarding is turned off.

There is no status command that I am aware of. I guess the assumption is
that you can look at TEC (that's why you are forwarding) and see whether
anything is coming in. If not, you can do the -reload and then go look at
/etc/Tivoli/tec/cache to see if caching is going on.

If you think there needs to be a status command, then please forward your
request in a note to netview@tivoli.com.

Is there a way on the NetView system to see if the forwarding to TEC
process
is up? I know the command "nvtecia -stop" and "nvtecia -start" stops and
starts the process, but what command shows you the existing status?
