Dear all,

I am testing a two-tier configuration with NetView and Middle Level
Manager (MLM). And I got some problem in this configuration.

The following is the configuration:

        Netview MLM
        | |
---------------------------------------------
        |
        Router1
        |
        Router2
        |
        PC

Normally, MLM can poll the PC through the routers by ICMP packet. If the
PC is running, it will send a ICMP reply to MLM. However, there is
problem when PC is down. After PC is down, no ICMP reply will be sent to
MLM. But, after MLM sent two
ICMP packet to PC with no reply, Router2 will send MLM a ICMP reply
which tell MLM that PC is unreachable. Unfortunately, MLM treats that
"unreachable" message as the reply from PC. As a result, MLM don't
recognise that PC is down.

Do anyone have any idea that I can configure MLM so that it can
recognise the "unreachable" message ?

Thanks,

Ivan Tang
