Forgot to mention that. Yes, Tivoli was just installed to run NetView, I just took all the defaults. I'm trying to start the Tivoli GUI as root (with the display exported to my machine). All other X appls work fine (I also have CiscoWorks and Optivity/NMS installed).

I ran the . /etc/Tivoli/setup_env.sh to source the appropriate variables.

You haven't mentioned anything about your Tivoli environment.
If you just installed it to run NetView and you took all the defaults, then
probably the only administrator id is root.
So are you doing this as root, and after having sourced the Tivoli
environment first, correct?
     " .  /etc/Tivoli/setup_env.sh  "

If not, try that.

I'm not able to start the Tivoli GUI on machine running Tivoli 3.6, NetView
5.1, and AIX 4.2.1. It used to work fine. Not real sure when the problem
started happening, the Tivoli GUI is not used very often. I get the Tivoli
startup screen, but never get the GUI.

The oserv daemin is running fine:

root@nv6000:/ >ps -ef | grep oserv
    root 12732     1   0   May 03      -  0:00 oserv -p 94 -k
/usr/local/Tivoli/serverDB/nv6000.db

odadmin odlist shows:

root@nv6000:/ >odadmin odlist
Region      Disp  Flags  Port            IPaddr   Hostname(s)
1185211293     1    ct-    94     172.16.250.22   nv6000,sysman

IP address 172.16.250.22 and hostname nv6000 are correct for this box.
sysman is just an alias (in the TMR Server and /etc/hosts)

Nothing has changed recently as far as the Tivoli framework is concerned,
so
I'm not sure what the problem is.
