The -o flag works on Netview. It will update the flag, like G, H, B, etc. Then
unmanage/manage the segment the node is in and the device will get
promoted to the correct level of the submap. But in my experience it will
NOT update the agent and vendor fields. That has to be done by
rediscovery, or by some other action that lets you set the field by api.
The set database field block of a ruleset will do it. So will nvdbimport.
But those fields are not revisited during any regular action that I know of.

I think the "-o" flag with the ovtopofix command is an OpenView parameter
and NOT a NetView parameter (at least I don't see it in man with NV 5.1.1).
Can someone using NV confirm this? Is there and equivalent command for
NetView?
Joe

After updating oid_to_type you need to stop netmon, run a ovtopofix -a
-o <sysObjectId you just updated> and restart netmon or just wait for
the next configuration poll by netmon.

I am looking for a way to reset this "vendor" field via the parameters
defined in the oid_to_type file. I want to avoid rediscovery of the node,
however, to do this. We have several devices that need to go from "Unset"
to "Cisco Systems". Is this possible?

So see the man page for nvdbimport.

This is used to output field values, not reset field values of existing
devices according to definitions defined in /usr/OV/fields/C/ directory.

Is there anyway to reset the "vendor" NV field without rediscovering the
device and without having to reset each node manually via the GUI?
