I'm more of a software person than a networking expert, but when I find
things like this in a customer's network, I hand the information over to
their network experts and they put it on their list of things to fix.
Traceroute, I think, just sends out pings until a path is found, and
figures out the path the message eventually took. The Netview
functions (like Locate route via SNMP), check the routing tables
and try to follow those routes exactly. Finding errors in these
tables is one of the beneficial features of the product, as far
as I know.
These aren't Bay routers using Circuitless IP, are they? And...
you might want to get your AIX maintenance up to speed if
it is not already. Any maintenance to snmp is always a good
thing.

I have an unrecognizing problem.
Mi environment is Framework 3.6 and Netview 5.1.1 on AIX 4.3.0.0.
Some nodes, or segments, aren't connect to the ipmap.
The two problems are like those:

ERROR finding route from cipg01.unipg.it to gw.dimisem.med.unipg.it:
Route bound to an interface which is realized via a broadcast media.
This may be because node cipg01.unipg.it is running proxy ARP (also known
as ARP hack or promiscuous ARP). Change the starting node to a gateway
in the same network as cipg01.unipg.it which is not running proxy ARP
and try again.
P.S. ------Minosse.unipg.it -> NetView Server
------Destination Node -> It is in the map but separate.

ERROR: Routing loop detected at cipg01.unipg.it.
This events are present only in the Netview Environment (SNMP); I haven't
problems with normal operation
or test like traceroute.
