First you must edit the tecint.conf file and add a server port definition, such
as
ServerPort=5529
which should match whatever port your TEC on NT is using. This is because there
is no portmapper daemon running on NT with which we can communicate, so you must
tell nvserverd which port to use or it will never connect.

Even this may not be enough without the 5.1.1 patch. You should contact your
marketing source to obtain this as soon as possible. Unless nvserverd is
linked with the correct libraries for TEC then it will not talk to a TEC server
on NT very well, since TEC did not always support an NT server.

The is no tecad daemon on NetView for AIX unless you install it. Rulesets are
for the internal adapter which is part of nvserverd. If you are more familiar
with the external adapter, tecad_nv6k, which is shipped with TEC, and wish to
use that instead, then you may do so. Install it per the instructions that TEC
gives you. Then you can just delete your /usr/OV/conf/tecint.conf file and let
the tecad_nv6k adapter work as it always has. After it is installed you start
and stop it like any other NetView daemon with ovstart and ovstop.

The internal adapter is much simpler to use and to customize than tecad_nv6k,
but at the 5.1 level, it did not work well with a TEC server running on NT.

If you aren't getting events in the window, then you might try stopping the
daemons and renaming your tecint.conf file and then re-starting the daemons
again, to see if that is part of the problem. If so, then you will not want to
try TEC forwarding again until you have added the ServerPort definition to that
file and named it back. If you still have events problems in the window when
you have TEC forwarding enabled via nvserverd, then I would advise you to stop
trying to forward to TEC until you have the latest maintenance applied. Of
course, you could install the tecad_nv6k as an alternative for now.

hello again...

the netview is running over aix version 4.3.2 and the tec is running
over NT server, i checked the file /etc/Tivoli/tec/cache and it is
growning. The TEC continue without receive the events.I don4t have the
5.1.1 patch. How can i start the tecad? or what can i do?
other problem is that the events don't display in the event window, i
sent a discover and the events displayed for a 30 minutes aprox. but
after they stop, the file trapd.log is growing but the events don't
display, i created other ruleset that it is configured for send events
to tec and the file cache is growing. May be a ruleset can be the
problem, but how can i repair it?
thanks in advance
