I have been away from this mailing list for a while so please bear with me.
I searched the archives and found a discussion thread that was similar to
the problem we are experiencing, but was unable to find a resolution to the
problem.
At the risk of a lot of people experiencing deja-vu here goes:
We are running NetView 5.1 on AIX 4.3.2.
We have a large number of unwanted devices (around 200, mostly PC's) that
are in our database because they are using addresses reserved for network
devices. We have modifed the seedfile to exclude them and I have been going
through the maps doing a visual check and deleting them (Edit -> Delete
Object -> From All Submaps).
I have also deleted all maps except for the one we are using.
I ran ovmapcount -a and then ran ovtopofix -a, as per instructions. When I
started the user interface again it synchronised for quite some time and at
the end, all of the previously deleted objects re-appeared.
Checking the output of ovtopofix showed that for each of the objects that
re-appeared we got the message 'not in any maps, updating times'. There are
a couple of objects that were successfully deleted and for them we got the
message 'removed and not in any maps, deleting'.
Can someone please advise how we can get these nodes into 'removed' status
so we can clear them out of the database? We don't want them re-appearing
every time we run ovtopofix.
Many thanks,
