Thanks GAry for this info. I tried it but i found very funny kind of text in
my netmon.trace file.
"Inconsistency detected in 'allocSnmpState';exiting gracefully and
initiating a restart of netmon.
thanks a lot

1) You can always turn on netmon tracing:
        e.g. netmon -m 63
tail -f \usr\ov\log\netmon.trace (if you're using MKS tools)
                otherwise Edit the file.

2) Check the nv.log

3) Make sure the node-name resolves to an address, and that the address
then resolves back to the node-name.

I'd do the above to start with.

Subject: Problem in NETMON.SEED File

Hi all
I am working on Netview 5.1.1 on winNT4.0. When i added a new IP address in
the netmon.seed file to discover that device, it doesn't show me that device
in map or under any smartset.
Do you have any idea that how can i check whether netmon sending query to
that IP address or not..
any other clue...
thanks in advance.

regards
sanjeev
