Current versions of NetView do not offer this option, first because there is no
SMIT on DEC or Solaris, and second because
AIX changed it so that later versions of SMIT cannot be run within our
environment. Version 5 users don't see the "problem" because the menu option is
no longer provided. The NetView 4.1.2 you have is out of support and has been
since the end of November 1998.
If you want to run SMIT, you will have to run it from the command line

Subject: AIX 4.3, NV 4.1.2, and SMIT
I just loaded and IBM F50 with AIX 4.3 and Netview 4.1.2. SMIT will not
work from within Netview. I get the following errors. Anybody seen this
or know how to fix?
0509-036 Cannot load program /usr/lpp/X11/bin/msmit because of the
following errors:
0509-023 Symbol _XtOpenApplication in /usr/lib/libvsm.a is not defined
0509-023 Symbol _XtVaOpenApplication in /usr/lib/libvsm.a is not defined
0509-023 Symbol XInternAtoms in /usr/lib/libvsm.a is not defined
0509-023 Cannot load library libvsm.a[shr.o]
0509-026 System error: Cannot run a file that does not have a valid format
Thanks,
Chris
