First, are you sure you sent them to listserv? I saw at least one from you last
night that was addressed to NV-L (else I could not have seen it).

Second, I have searched myself so I know it works. The general syntax is as
follows:

To search for appends meeting certain criteria, send the search
command in the body of a note to LISTSERV@UCSBVM.ucsb.edu

SEArch listname word1 <word2 <...>> Search list archives
        or: word1 <word2 <...>> IN listname
FROM date1 -> From this date
                  TODAY                        -> From today
                  TODAY-7                      -> In the last 7 days
TO date2 -> To this date
             WHERE
SUBJECT CONTAINS xxxx -> Only this subject
             AND/OR
SENDER CONTAINS xxxx -> Only this author
                                               Complex boolean operations are
                                               supported, see database guide

It will send you back a summary with instructions on how to retrieve them.

To get a reference sheet of commands, send a note to
LISTSERV@UCSBVM.ucsb.edu with INFO REFCARD in the body.

So I would say your search command should work, but you are likely to be
inundated given how broad your criteria are.

I don't know what "enterprise level correlation" is, so I cannot comment on
CA-Unicenter's function, but NetView itself can send paging and email in
repsonse to traps, and it can correlate traps before doing that as well.

Since you are not likely to get what you want by searching the archives, unless
you plan to read everything there for the last 10 months, why not send a new
question to NV-L and ask what you want to know? I would be happy to try to
answer them and many other users may be as well.

Subject: Listserver SEARCH Function

Hello,
I'm new to both NetView/AIX and this discussion list.
Does anyone ever use the SEARCH function on the NV-L list?
I have sent in two searches and received no response.
Here's the command I sent to LISTSERV@UCSBVM.UCSB.EDU
Search nv-l netview snmp trap mib format
We are forwarding events from Netview 5.1.1 (on AIX 4.3.2) on to a
CA-Unicenter. CA-Unicenter will do the enterprise level correlation and
initiates paging, email, etc. I have many questions related to the Netview
side of this, but thought I would search the archives first.

Am I doing the Search correctly?

Thanks,
Gib
