Passing $A $E $e .etc to script-level code

Does anyone have a sample or example of Perl or CGI scripts
that you use to pass traps to your script code?

I'm trying to use VBscript but am having difficulty passing the
traps.  I figure if I can study some prior coding I can interpret
the coding and figure out this mess.  I'm feeling lucky.
