NetView for NT SNMP Trap on the actual NetView server

Can I expect to install a third party software package on
the same server with NetView for NT and have that package
do trap forwarding to this same NetView service?

I seem to remember reading that it was suggested not to
enable traps in the SNMP service at the NetView server itself.
