Alain,
maybe last comment about this, although it's more of a Tivoli domain so not
really for this discussion list...
If you have - or are planning to have - CiscoWorks, Optivity, Tivoli NWays
Manager or 3COM Transcend running on top of NetView, Tivoli has also a product
called "Tivoli Manager for Network Hardware". This product will provide you more
"advanced" Inventory scanners that will help you take the very precise
informations those specific products know about your networking hardware and
inject this in your Inventory DB. It's a very good complement to the TIPN
product.

Thanks for your insight on this matter ....
The best solution, as you pointed out, is to install NetView on a
ManagedNode, which makes reinstallation unavoidable !
The objective of this is to make use of the TIPN package to manage an
inventory of network devices (routers, hubs, ...) but also create NetView
maps of the Tivoli environment.
