How it probably got that way: the key-stroke method for rubber-band zoom
is
shift, select a group (draw a box with the left mouse button. This is easy
to do
accidentally when you mean to do a ctl and draw a box to select an
additonal
group of nodes.
The keystroke method to turn rubber-band zoom off is shift, LMB (no box).
