Benoit,

my understanding is that Netview V5.1 does not handle SNMP V2, at least to some
extend. I say "to some extend" because, if I remember correclty, you can import
SNMP V2 MIB files and use the MIB V2 browser to browse remote SNMP V2 devices.
Netview V5.1.2 will not understand SNMP V2 traps. Can't your SUN software be
configured to send SNMP V1 traps ?

Don't know if NetView will ever support SNMP V2... Everything is defined in the
SNMP V2 RFC, but I don't know why, the market seems quite shy regarding it and
few devices work with it.

Cheers

Hi,

I have installed Sun Management Center 2.1 on my (SUN) servers and
configured it to send traps to my netview server (version 5.1.2 on AIX
4.2.1).
Sun Management Center use SNMPv2usec (with authentication and no encryption)
trap.

In the trapd.log, I have "T WARNING: invalid SNMPpacket from agent <ip>
source A pid -1".
How can I configure my netview server to understand the SNMPv2usec traps?

Thanks in advance

Benoit.
