FYI - Netmon flags are documented in \usr\ov\books\pdf\nv_prog_ref.pdf on
NT.

Netview on NT has less configurability than Netview on unix, but just
because the option is not there may not mean all is lost. Then NT product
was ported from Netview V3 on AIX, and the -L option did not come into
being until very late in V3's life. Before the -L option was added, netview
was supposed to ignore loopback interfaces but it did not always do so.
For instance, if you discovered a node by its loopback interface, it was
treated normally regardless of the fact that it was a loopback. I suggest
that you try this, and find out if the code is still in there. Put the
loopback in
the seedfile instead of the LAN or WAN address, delete the node, and
rediscover it.

Well,

after a couple of hours of troubleshooting I made NetView rewrite the
netmon.lrf
(I changed the "Delete DHCP clients when not responing after12 hours"
option to
10 hours. Then the netmon.lrf was rewritten and a space between the -F and
-z
flags was also written and netmon started up again and I could change back
the
DHCP option to original 12 hours. Bug? I don't know, but now it's working
again
anyway. But, my original question remains; How do I tell netmon to discover
loopback interfaces? In UNIX I use the -L flag but it doesn't seem to exist
in
NT. Or does it?

cd to \usr\ov\log and look for a netmon.trace file. If netmon can write
errors
out, this is where he will put them.
Do an "ovstatus netmon". What output do you get? It should give you a
last
message if there is one and a return code.

Hi ,

I'm running NetView 5.1.2 on NT with SP4 and I'm having a problem with
netmon
not starting anymore. It used to startup but then I turned on the option
"All
devices with secondary adressing" under Options -> Server setup, and then
netmon
didn't start anymore. Of course I've tried to turn the option off again,
but it
didn't do any good. In the nv.log file it looks like netmon has been
started
with an incorrect flag but wich is it? I've browsed the netmon.lrf file and
it
starts netmon with a bunch of flags. Is there a good way of listing what
available flags there are for netmon and what they do in NT? The hole thing
began with that I wanted to start netmon with the "-L" flag (in UNIX) but i
didn't find the option anywhere, and now my NetView has no netmon attt
all!!

TIA
