X Resources to control Tivoli GUI

I have been rather successful at modifying the characteristics of the
Tivoli NetView
GUI using the resource files provided.  Everything works well on the
machine that hosts
NetView but if you login to that machine from somewhere else all that
effort is lost and
none of the customization is displayed.  This is even after copying the
.Xdefaults file onto
the machine you're trying to display on and restarting X Windows.

Has anyone been successful in displaying a modified GUI on a remote
display?
