Betreff: [NV-L] Migrating to Netview 6.0

Hi all, I am planning to migrate Netview to the newest version ( version
6.0 )
. Currently I have installed Netview 5.1.2 integrated with CiscoWorks2000.
Is there any patch for the 6.0 version ?
--> no (as far as I know)
Is this version stable ?
--> generally no difference to 5.1.2 (in our environment)
Is there any important problem reported ?
--> we have two PMR's open (but I guess these are problems that won't happen
to many others):
        1. submap explorer hangs while displaying IP Internet Topology Map:
        - cause: a symbol on the Root Submap that has no entry in object and
topology database (this symbol came with the installation of "Nortel
OMS")
        - workaround: add a dummy location and put the symbol inside
        2. demand poll takes abnormally much time:
        - cause: unknown. maybe playing around with the "-Q" netmon options
        - workaround: rediscover map (urgh!) with only the "approved"
options. now it works fine.

There is another strange behaviour: during discovery a lot of
useless entrys appear in the ovsnmp.conf file. These entries consist
of IP address, read community (it is exactly the same as the global
default: public), and under proxy (a field we usually don't use) you
find the IP address of the node again. Although it looks strange I
guess it won't influence netview in a bad way.

It is compatible with CiscoWorks2000?
--> yes.
Thanks in advance,

Hernan D. Villegas
