James, u d'man. Your little script was exactly what I was looking for to make
HAVIEW work but there's a problem.

In HAVIEW (using NetView 6.0, AIX 4.3.3), my cluster is discovered and
displayed in the NetView map area with icons for HACMP cluster resources such
as "oracledbms", "oraclevg", filesystem icons such as "/u01", etc.

Here's the problem -- everyone of these icons has the same object name of
"00015NONETNONODNONETNONODNO" in NetView's object database.

How do I change these object names in Netview? I would like the object name to
match the icon label such as "oracledbms", etc.

Incidentally, I get the status of each icon through a combination of methods
such as snmpcollections via trapgend for filesystems and HACMP clinfo commands
for the other resources and then call the script you supplied, passing it the
icon name and status.

Regards and thanx for the script,
ken
