That was it. Changed his uid to a unique number.

Subject: Antw: [NV-L] servdir
Do you have a userid "servdir" in /etc/passwd with the same numerical uid as
nbsw? Then you have two different users running with the same uid, this
would explain the problem: you try to change the password for the userid
servdir, and the system asks for the old password for user servdir ?!?

I have a user that telnets to my NetView Server (v5.1) for AIX and logs in
w/ his own unique userid and password. He was trying to change his password
via the passwd command and it prompts him for servdir's old password. What
is servdir and any idea why this is happening?
I signed into the system as myself (trsd), then su to root, then su to his
userid (nbsw):
nbsw@nv6000:/OV/home/nbsw >whoami
servdir
nbsw@nv6000:/OV/home/nbsw >who am i
trsd pts/8 Jun 07 06:30 (192.168.45.220)
nbsw@nv6000:/OV/home/nbsw >passwd
Changing password for "servdir"
servdir's Old password:
Have to su to root and then nbsw because I don't know his password.
